WIC donates to NHS

"Wykon Kids For A Cause" is an WIC exercise program to encourage physical fitness in students combined with a community service tie-in. For one week, children participated in multiple exercising components and sought out pledges from friend and family. This year our school raised $1696.31 and 100% of those funds were donated to NHS. NHS then disbursed this money in the form of heart calcium screen vouchers to patients who may be at risk for heart disease. Heart calcium scoring screening is a tool to detect early heart disease. Last year's Wykon Kids For A Cause indicated that 50% of people that received the calcium score screen voucher were found to have plaque buildup.
