NHS Annual "Women In The Outdoors" event a success!

Sunny skies and sunny smiles were shared as 140 area women participated in the second annual Total Woman In The Outdoor Event at Bewabic State Park on Tuesday, June 26. The event, sponsored by NHS, State of MI Park Service (and the great crew from Bewabic State Park) and corporate sponsors Pamida and Wildlife Unlimited, treated area women to a free evening of hands on learning in a variety of areas. Fishing, kayaking, outdoor photography, silent sports, outdoor cooking, outdoor first aid and survival, GPS and geo-caching as well as free health screenings were offered and the response was enthusiastic and positive. Plans for next year's event are already underway!

Here, attendees are learning how to go geochaching which is an outdoor sporting activity in which the participants use GPS to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" anywhere in the world.
